Qatar Airways installs giant canvas to express solidarity
The portrait, widely recognised by its title ‘Tamim Al Majd’ (Tamim the glorious), has become the face of Qatari resilience during the ongoing economic blockade. It has been created by contemporary Qatari artist Ahmed bin Majed al-Maadheed.Qatar Airways senior officials and employees, led by its Group Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker, unveiled the giant canvas and penned messages of love, loyalty, and patriotism.Hamad International Airport (HIA) COO Engineer Badr al -Meer, HIA’s vice president for commercial and marketing Abdulaziz Abdulla al-Mass, and other dignitaries also attended the event.“This signing event marks a very proud moment for us here at Qatar Airways as we celebrate our unity in the midst of this unprecedented blockade against my country,” al-Baker said. “I am truly glad to see so many of our employees from Qatar, as well as many other nations all across the world here, to enthusiastically show their support.“The State of Qatar will continue to strive, expand, and excel in all areas, and we as an airline will also follow the same path, because we don’t believe in boundaries, we believe in bringing people together.“We will continue to fly the skies, and we will continue to go places together.”The event also attracted some of the country’s renowned social media influencers, as well as famous Qatari singer Fahad al-Kubaisi, who is also Qatar Airways' newest brand ambassador.“I’m thrilled to be here for this important event where we have gathered to show our unity as a nation in the midst of this blockade. Such a significant show of support from Qatar Airways employees is truly inspiring to see,” he said in a statement.
