The meeting aims to enhance strategic co-operation and exchange of knowledge in the field of international development and foreign aid and working within the framework of the State of Qatar’s international development policy and foreign aid, which focuses on the sectors of education, health, economic empowerment, combating poverty and relief work.
Director General of QFFD Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari stressed that the strategic co-ordination meetings between the Fund and the Qatari charities and foundations working in the field of foreign relief and development assistance aim to enhance joint co-operation to implement Qatar’s foreign policy and strategy in the field of foreign aid.
They also aim to recognise regional and international dimensions and trends related to such assistance as well as the roles of Qatari institutions working in the development and humanitarian fields and their endeavours to raise the level of aid and increase its effectiveness, he said adding that the meetings also aim to highlight Qatar’s bright and pioneering role in the field of international development at both regional and international levels.
He explained that during the meeting, they discussed the best ways for Qatari institutions to participate in the realisation of the policies and strategies of the State in the field of foreign aid and to announce opportunities for future projects in which they can co-operate in financing and implementing in order to stimulate co-operation, reduce costs and enhance the developmental impact.
The meeting was attended by heads of QFFD, Regulatory Authority for Charity Activities, Qatar Charity, Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF), Education Above All Foundation (EAA), Silatech, Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS), Sheikh Eid Charity Foundation, Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charity Foundation, Afif Foundation, Reach Out to Asia Foundation (Rota), and Al Faisal Without Borders Foundation.
