The foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt will hold a joint meeting in Manama today (Sunday).
According to a statement issued by Egypt’s foreign ministry , the meeting will discuss the agreement reached by the foreign ministers of the four countries during a meeting in Cairo on July 5.
"In the two-day meeting, the four countries will press Qatar to comply with their demands, which include stopping interference in their internal affairs," the Egyptian statement said.
It is part of the sustained consultations and joint co-ordination among the quartet to review the situation following the blockade imposed on Qatar on June 5, sources said.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE and Egypt cut diplomatic and transport ties with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting "terrorism". Qatar rejects the allegations as "baseless".
Efforts led by Kuwait and Turkey and calls from the US administration have failed to ease what has become the worst rift between Arab states in years.
In a speech addressed to the nation on July 21, His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani said Qatar is ready for dialogue to resolve the crisis, but stressed that any solution must respect Qatar's sovereignty.
"We are open to dialogue to resolve the outstanding problems [so long as Qatar's] sovereignty is respected," the Emir said in his first televised address since the four Arab states cut ties with Qatar.
