Entertainment shows, interactive games and sports events at the Summer Entertainment City (SEC) and major malls proved to be a big hit, attracting a large number of holiday-goers on the fourth day of the Eid al-Adha celebrations on Monday.

These unique and diverse offerings, organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and its partners, also mark the final week of the Qatar Summer Festival 2017, which started on June 25 and concludes today at the Mall of Qatar (MoQ).
Speaking to Gulf Times, QSports vice chairman Ghanim al-Mohannadi said international performances, featuring talented musicians, artistes and athletes, highlighted this year’s edition of SEC, the centerpiece and family favourite of the annual festival in the country.

“Our slant towards sport-related performances proved very effective, underscoring the popularity of sports in Qatar. This also fit nicely with the mission of SEC’s main organiser, QSports,” he stressed.
Among the most popular of these performances were the Dunking Devils, who visited Qatar from Slovenia, and enthralled crowds; the ‘3x3 Mall Jam basketball tournament and subsequent women's basketball tournaments; and an array of interactive games and competitions for all ages.
SEC, which features the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course, also awarded the winners of the Obstacle Challenge yesterday.
Stage shows and roaming parades such as the Drummix and Cowboys welcomed and entertained visitors from the first day of Eid and will continue today also.
Meanwhile, families and children still have the chance to learn more about Qatar’s customs and traditions with the staging of Arabic play Khoshesha (Hide and Seek) between 7.45pm and 8.45am at SEC today, the last day of QSF and Eid al-Adha celebrations.
At MoQ, the popular Baraem TV characters regaled young visitors with their ‘Eid Happiness’ show on the Oasis Stage at 3pm and 5pm.
QSF’s third edition of Doha Comedy Festival drew a capacity crowd at the Qatar National Convention Centre on Sunday.
QTA said the audience enjoyed the stand up routines of renowned international comedians Mo Amer, Maz Jobrani, Nemr Nemr, Vir Das and Qatar’s very own stand-up comedy pioneer, Hamad al-Ammari.
QTA urged residents and visitors to watch the grand finale of QSF today, which will showcase an array of activities such as parades throughout the mall, and the mega raffle draw.
Some 11 winners will take away cash prizes amounting to QR300,000 and a luxury car, according to QTA.
The day’s events will finally culminate in a public concert.
“Over the past few days we have seen throngs of people of all ages head to the country’s most popular sites to enjoy various activities and celebrate the joy of Eid al-Adha,” QTA’s public relations and communications director Saif al-Kuwari said in a statement.
He thanked their partners in the retail, entertainment and hospitality sectors for closely and extensively collaborating with QTA in organising the longest-running nationwide festivity.
Apart from these shows and activities, the celebrations also provided a platform for home-based entrepreneurs in Qatar to showcase and promote their products at the ‘Made in Qatar Food Market’.
The exhibition, which will conclude on September 10, aims to show its support to Qatar and His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani amid the ongoing economic blockade.
