QU entrepreneurship centre among top 35 in the world

QU CBE officials outline achievements and future plans.
The Centre for Entrepreneurship at Qatar University College of Businessand Economics (QU-CBE) has been selected among the top 35 centres in theworld by the Information and Knowledge Management Society.The announcement was made by the Centre for Entrepreneurship director DrMahmoud Abdellatif at a press conference, convened to outline the keyachievements of QU-CBE and future plans for the academic year 2017-2018.CBE dean Dr Khalid Shams al-Abdulqader, CBE associate dean for researchand graduate programmes Dr Belaid Aouni, CBE department heads Dr Baderal-Esmail (management and marketing), Prof Mohamed Gaied (Finance andEconomics), and Prof Mostafa Kamal Hassan (of Accounting and InformationSystems) were the other officials present.Dr Abdellatif also highlighted that the centre will organise theInternational Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and LocalDevelopment, first-of-its-kind in Qatar.Dr al-Abdulqader said “CBE’s new strategy is based on several pillarssuch as the graduation of highly qualified professionals, maintaining astrong relationship between the college’s alumni and its Advisory Board,and keeping abreast of the ever-changing needs of the local andregional labour market, among many others.”He also stressed the importance of increasing the organisation andimplementation of international conferences that align with local andregional needs, and of fostering links with institutions from varioussectors through partnerships and collaborations that enhance educationand research outcomes.Dr al-Esmail highlighted the increase of research output at CBEManagement and Marketing Department, noting that over 70 papers havebeen published in scientific journals and books and presented in variousconferences.Prof Gaied noted that CBE Finance and Economics Department will continueto advance its research initiatives through the organisation ofresearch seminars and seminars on tax awareness to ensure a fullengagement with the community, the improvement of research metrics, andthe establishment of research groups in support of the CorporateGovernance Centre.In order to support student exchange activities, CBE selected fivestudents to represent the college at the International Master’s SummerSchool, held at the University of Bradford in the UK.
