Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) yesterday welcomed the first outpatients to its urology clinics, which have moved from their previous location at Hamad General Hospital. Urology, which focuses on treating patients with disorders of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive system, is the third clinical service to commence outpatient operations at the ACC. The move follows the start of podiatry, digestive, and liver disease outpatient services, as well as the commencement of endoscopy procedures earlier this year. Additional outpatient clinic moves are scheduled for the coming months and will see audiology and ENT outpatient services commence at the ACC along with a pre-admission anaesthesia clinic and surgical services. When fully operational, the new Urology Department within the ACC will be equipped to the highest international standards, managing both outpatient clinics and surgical procedures. The gradual introduction of outpatient services at the ACC precedes the official opening of the three new Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City hospitals and the start of the planned day surgery service within the ACC. Dr Khalid al-Rumaihi, head of Urology at HMC said, “Both myself and the other members of the urology team welcome the opportunity to relocate to the ACC. It is a state-of-the-art facility which will enable us to provide our patients with even better care within the best possible environment.” Dr Khalid al-Jalham, director of the ACC and assistant head of urology at HMC, added, “We are confident that our outpatients will welcome the move to the ACC and we look forward to being able to commence surgical procedures within the same convenient location in the future.”
