Qatar Airways’ interline partnership with Vietjet Air will now allow passengers to travel to and from points in Vietnam, not served directly by Qatar’s national carrier, using a single reservation across both the airlines’ networks.Vietjet Air is the first airline in Vietnam to operate as a new-age airline with low-cost and diversified services to meet customers’ demands.Passengers travelling to and from eight new domestic points within Vietnam can connect via Qatar Airways’ existing gateways in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi). The new agreement includes the coastal city Da Nang, as well as Ban Me Thuot, Dalat, Hai Phong, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Pleiku, Vinh City, and one international point, Taipei.“We are delighted to welcome Vietjet to our growing roster of interline partners as they allow us to provide a more seamless experience for our passengers,” Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker said.He noted that the new agreement with Vietjet will offer passengers more choice, providing them an easy connection in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi before transferring to their Qatar Airways flights.“Qatar Airways is delighted to celebrate 10 years in Vietnam this year, and it is all thanks to the Vietnamese market’s support that we have been able to expand our footprint in this growing market,” al-Baker added.Qatar Airways first commenced operations to Ho Chi Minh City on March 25, 2007.The airline was also the first Gulf carrier to offer non-stop service to Vietnam’s largest city. Hanoi was added to the airline’s fast-growing global network in November 2010.Passengers will benefit from frequency increases to both cities starting from January 1, 2018, with Qatar Airways flying “double daily” to Hanoi and providing 10 flights a week to Ho Chi Minh City.In March 2016, Ho Chi Minh City also became Qatar Airways Cargo’s sixth freighter destination in Asia Pacific. The airline recently added additional services to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, as well as to the popular Thai holiday destination of Krabi.
