Ali Bin Ali (ABA) Group recently joined nationwide efforts to spread awareness about breast cancer and contributed to the cause by holding a series of events and activities for its staff.
The Group organised a weeklong campaign from October 23 in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which falls in October every year.
The ‘Let’s Do More than Wearing a Ribbon!’ campaign, which received an “overwhelming response”, was aimed at informing the staff about the disease, its prevention, detection and treatment, according to a press statement.
“Such initiatives are of great importance” as, according to reports, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in Qatar and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide, the statement noted.
The main event was held at the head office in co-operation with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS). The session was attended by women employees from different departments located in the head office as well as staff members from Dohatna, ABA Medical, ABA & Partners and Logistics.QCS gave a detailed and informative presentation about breast cancer and discussed the truth and the myths about the illness. The presenter repeatedly emphasised the importance of being aware and early detection.
The session was followed by a testimonial by a breast cancer survivor. The 37-year-old, who was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, shared her emotional journey and victory over cancer.
Ending the gathering on a positive note, Ali Bin Ali Medical shared a new technological device with all the attendees and explained how it enables people to do breast cancer screening at home - thereby making prevention easier.
Through the rest of the week, ABA Group, supported by its Medical division, took the breast cancer awareness campaign to its different divisions, including Travel, Al Danah, International Agencies & Prime Consumer Products, Luxury, ABATS and all ABA offices in Katara Plaza (Monoprix, Hospitality, Fashion, Desert Eye & Sports Gate).
