American television network CBS will broadcast an interview of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on its 60 Minutes show by Charlie Rose tonight.
Scheduled for Sunday (October 29) at 7pm ET (Qatar time Monday 2am) on CBS News (CBSN), the interview sheds light into the reasons behind the Gulf crisis, which was triggered by the severing of diplomatic and trade ties with Qatar by its Arab neighbours.
According to information available on the CBS News website, His Highness the Emir has spoken about US president Donald Trump’s efforts to end the dispute by convening a meeting of the GCC leaders at Camp David.
But the proposal has not made any headway because of the lack of a response from the quartet led by Saudi Arabia, CBSN said.
“It is true, he [Trump] suggested that we come,” Sheikh Tamim told  60 Minutes about the US president’s offer to hold a meeting at Camp David.
“I told him straight away, ‘Mr President we are very ready, I’ve been asking for dialogue from day one.’”
When asked by host Charlie Rose about the blockading countries’ reaction, the Emir replied: “It was supposed to be very soon, this meeting, but I don’t have any responses.”
