Souq Al Baladi, a project of Saudia Group offering a wide range of fresh food items, will be inaugurated on Saturday.
Strategically located on Wholesale Market Street, the new store has “ample car parking and easy access from all over Qatar", a press statement from the group said.
The opening ceremony, at 4.30pm on Saturday, will be held in the presence of a number of dignitaries, including Qatar government officials and leading entrepreneurs.
Souq Al Baladi features an “extensive range of the freshest products” across sections such as fish, butchery, fruits and vegetables, bakery, Arabic sweets, hot food, and fresh mart, sourced from within Qatar as well as friendly countries with high quality standards, the statement notes.
“We are delighted to provide a unique and immersive traditional experience of fresh food shopping at Souq Al Baladi, which will be relished by our customers in Qatar,” Mohamed Abdulla al-Attiya, chairman of Saudia Group of Companies, was quoted as saying.
N K Musthafa Abdu, managing director of Saudia Group of Companies, emphasised that this is part of “our ambitious plan for the people of Qatar to provide a state-of-the-art outlet with all fresh food (items) under one roof in such a historically important trading place”.
Souq Al Baladi “epitomises Qatar’s traditional designs and patterns” and offers “tailor-made fresh food sections to meet the needs of Qatar nationals and expatriate families”, according to a statement issued by Saudia Group CEO Salman Musthafa, COO Rashid Musthafa and directors Faisal Musthafa and Jassim Musthafa.
