Al Emadi Hospital plans new facility near Doha Festival City

Al Emadi Hospital will soon start the construction of a 200-bed hospital on the outskirts of Doha, Gulf Times has learnt.
“We are going to construct a 200-bed hospital near Doha Festival City.  The preliminary works for construction of the hospital are over, including the drawing of the buildings. We expect to start the construction in six to seven months,” said Dr Mohamed Abdulla al-Emadi, chairman and founder of Al Emadi Hospital.
“It will be a multi-speciality hospital and we aim to complete the construction within three years. The hospital will have all the major specialities and sub-specialities. The building has been designed in such a way that it will have a lot of greenery, large waiting areas and all modern facilities,” Dr al-Emadi said.
He also said there are plans to set up a polyclinic in the northern part of Qatar - “may be somewhere near Al Khor” - sometime later.
According to the official, Al Emadi Hospital has had major expansion recently. “We have moved all the outpatient clinics to a newly constructed building. We found that the existing hospital building was unable to handle the number of visitors to the hospital and we decided to provide better facilities for them. So, we constructed a new building and all the outpatient departments are working from the new building,” he explained.
“There are 70 clinics in the outpatient department and each clinic has two doctors. The clinics operate from 7am to 11pm and there are around 200 doctors in all specialities and sub-specialities. More than 500 nurses are employed in various departments in addition to a large number of paramedical staff,” he highlighted.
Dr al-Emadi also said the hospital has started a new physiotherapy and fitness centre with dedicated doctors, dietitians and skilled supervisors. Similarly, the hospital provides academic training for the staff as it is one of the providers of Continuous Professional Development and Continuous Medical Education for medical staff in Qatar.
The official said there are about 60 beds in the hospital and more will be added to the present facility.
“We will add another 20 beds to the existing number of beds, which should be enough for the time being. We are mostly a surgical hospital. We have five major and two minor operating rooms as well as two endoscopy rooms. Similarly, we have four delivery rooms,” added al-Emadi.
