CRA provides radio support for Superbike Championship final

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has met the substantialradiocommunication requirements of Losail Circuit Sports Club for theSuperbike World Championship 2017 held recently. The CRA approved 300 different types of radio equipment such aswalkie-talkies and wireless cameras with 93 different temporaryfrequencies, according to a press statement.Qatar hosted the final round of the Superbike World Championship atLosail International Circuit for the fourth consecutive year. LosailCircuit Sports Club organised the event in co-operation with Qatar Motorand Motorcycle Federation with CRA playing a major supporting role inline with its national mandate of managing and allocating scarceresources such as the radio spectrum.The CRA met the needs of the organisers within a short time period andextended its full support for the timely release of imported equipmentshipped to Qatar in co-operation with the concerned authorities. The organisers used CRA’s award-winning the E-Spectrum Services Portalto submit their requests to use the temporary frequencies. TheE-Spectrum Portal, launched in January 2017, is the public interface ofthe CRA’s Automated Frequency Management System. The E-Spectrum Portal can be accessed online. It allows spectrum usersto submit applications online for issuing, modifying, or cancellingtheir spectrum licences. Users can also view active licences, tracksubmitted applications, register radio network/ area deployments, viewinvoices and make online payments. Large-scale events typically require the use of the radio spectrum foractivities such as broadcast coverage, surveillance, managing spectatorsand security, and high-quality radiocommunication within assigned bandsof the radio spectrum is essential for smooth operations. The CRA continues to play crucial role in the success of these highprofile events within its mandate and will continue to support allfuture events.
