His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and King Mohamed VI of Morocco held talks on bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and prospects for strengthening and developing them yesterday.

At the beginning of the talks held at the Emiri Diwan , the Emir welcomed the King of Morocco and the accompanying delegation, expressing hope that the visit would further develop the brotherly relations between the two countries, in order to meet the wishes of the two brotherly peoples and open up new horizons for joint cooperation.
His Highness the Emir also congratulated the King and the Moroccan people on the occasion of Morocco's qualification for the 2018 World Cup finals.
King Mohamed VI expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Emir for his congratulations, expressing his happiness with this visit, which is aimed at strengthening fraternal ties and cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
The two sides reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation at various levels to the benefit of the two peoples, and discussed the developments in the Arab and international arenas.
The talks were attended by His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al -Thani.
A number of ministers also attended the talks.
On the Moroccan side, the talks were attended by Prince Moulay Ismail, Fouad Aali al- Himma, Advisor to the King, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita.
The Emir and the king held a bilateral meeting, during which they discussed a number of current issues and developments.
The King of Morocco was accorded an official reception upon his arrival at the Emiri Diwan.







Earlier, His Highness the Emir led well-wishers to welcome the King of Morocco and his accompanying delegation upon their arrival at Hamad International Airport, on an official visit to Qatar.
The Deputy Emir was also present at the airport to welcome King Mohammed VI.
A number of ministers were also on hand at the airport to greet the king.
Qatar and the Kingdom of Morocco have diplomatic relations since 1972.
The distinct relations between the two countries have been enhanced by mutual visits, the most important among them being the visits of King Mohamed VI to Doha in 2002 and the visit of His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani to Marrakesh in the same year, as well as his visits to Tangier in 2005 and Rabat in 2011.
Also King Mohammed VI visited Doha in 2012 and 2016. The Emir visited Marrakesh in 2013.
Qatar and Morocco have opened up new broad horizons for cooperation, represented in the exchange of visits and development programmes, and the holding of the joint higher committees.
The relations between the two countries have grown into a strategic partnership, based on the vision and good leadership of the leaders of the two countries. The two leaders have worked together to strengthen relations and developing cooperation in all fields.
In the past 36 years, more than 45 agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) have been signed between Qatar and Morocco.
The two countries also have mutual agreements in the fields of culture, arts, education and media.
