Bedaya Centre takes part in GU-Q bazaar

The Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (BedayaCentre), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech,along with a number of startups, has participated in a bazaar organisedby Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) aimed at raising awareness on breast cancer. The bazaar was held at the university campus and witnessed the participation of local companies and institutions. During the event, participating startups donated their sale proceeds toQatar Cancer Society to support their efforts in fighting breast cancerand raising awareness in the community about the disease. Bedaya Centre’s participation in such events comes within the frameworkof its social responsibility aspect and those of other participatingstartups, the centre said in a statement.Reem al-Suwaidi, general manager, Bedaya Centre, said: “Ourparticipation in this initiative, organised by GU-Q, is to fight breastcancer. The spontaneous response by local startups and local businessfor the bazaar was to offer our support to the efforts of the staterepresented by Qatar Cancer Society towards research projects andclinical trials related to the disease to serve breast cancer patients.“The sales generated by the startups during the event were veryencouraging. We hope our small effort will support the Societyfinancially and morally by spreading awareness about breast cancer andhighlight the importance of early detection for women and taking thenecessary precautions in order to maintain a healthy living,” al-Suwaidiadded.
