Visitors entering Qatar on a tourist visa on arrival should extend the same electronically through the website of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), it was announced on Monday.
The Airport Passports Department has urged the visitors to use this electronic channel to extend the on-arrival visa free of charge and not to visit the Airport Passports Department for the service.
Colonel Mohamed Rashid al-Mazrouei, director of Airport Passports Department, said their office had provided the visa extension service earlier, but now it has to be done online through the MoI website.
The official also noted if the visitor has failed to complete the extension procedures before the expiry date he would have to pay a fine of QR200 for each day of his overstay.
