‘Siege countries envious of Qatar’s development’

Qatar’s progress and development over the years did not go well with theneighbouring Gulf states and the resulting envy triggered the blockade,the Overseas Nepali Forum chairman c told Qatar UrduRadio’s live show Haqeeqat yesterday. “The blockade was meant to violate Qatar’s sovereignty and independencebecause countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE were envious of Qatar’sprogress,” he stated. Pokhrel said that the measures taken by the blockading countries provedfutile as people still come to Qatar both for tourism and work. “Qataris liked by people from Nepal and other countries because of itsefficient legal system and the environment that is very welcoming,”Pokhrel added. Haqeeqat, which aims to engage and interact with thelarge South Asian expatriate community in Qatar, is a joint venture ofthe Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corp Urdu Radio.
