Qatar Leadership Centre’s (QLC) Government Leaders Programme organised an exclusive seminar for its participants at the QLC headquarters in Al Bidda Tower.
For the event, QLC invited Dr Saad bin Ahmed al-Mohannadi, president, Public Works Authority (Ashghal), to be the guest speaker.
The seminar explored best practices of senior management and leadership and covered Ashghal’s contribution to Qatar’s development.
Ashghal is responsible for the management and delivery of major infrastructure projects in Qatar. Established in 2004, the authority has handled the construction and maintenance of local roads, expressways, the national drainage system and public buildings.
Al-Mohannadi emphasised the importance of creating a dynamic culture of leading by example. The speaker led the participants through his experiences in creating a successful working culture that is based on engagement and informed decision-making.
Focusing on both personal and professional development, al-Mohannadi advised the participants to challenge their peers and employees to break out of their comfort zones, and to engage them in a unified vision for better outcomes at their respective institutions.
Al-Mohannadi earned his undergraduate degree and MBA from Qatar University and a doctorate from France, and has constantly challenged himself over the course of his career. He has held several managerial positions in Qatar and is included in the membership of several committees.
From 2011, al-Mohannadi served as the chief executive officer of Qatar Railways Co where he employed his extensive experience in project management to enhance the overall performance of the company. In 2017, and following an Emiri Decree, he was appointed
president of Ashghal.
The QLC seminar is part of the centre’s “commitment to partner with other leading entities in the country to support the creation of knowledge and further the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030”, according to a statement.
The Government Leaders Programme is one of three QLC national programmes designed for outstanding Qatari men and women. The programme provides its participants with customised leadership education, enhancing their personal and professional development.
