B Square Mall opens in colourful ceremony

B Square Mall, a newcommercial and retail development centre located in the Al Thumama areaalong F-Ring Road, was formally opened yesterday with a colourfulceremony attended by a number of dignitaries and city residents.Hundreds of balloons were released into the air to the accompaniment ofmusic to mark the opening of the mall.The mall, spread over abuilt-up area exceeding  25,000sq m, is situated on the stretch betweenthe Najma Street intersection and the bridge across Doha-IndustrialRoad. The new commercial complex is the “first of its kind” in the area,and the retail space accounts for more than 13,500sq m, it is learnt.Atthe inauguration, representatives of the mall’s promoters —Al BandaryReal Estate — said the complex has 44 retail outlets, including asupermarket operated by Spar Group. They also stressed that the new mallis the “only one of its kind” in Doha, where more than 40% of the totalspace is devoted to entertainment and recreational activities.Thecomplex houses a five-screen multiplex, run by Roxy Cinemas, besidesabout eight eateries that include familiar brands in the diningbusiness. After the inauguration, the guests were taken on a tour of themall premises.Among those present at the opening ceremony werechairman of Al Bandary Real Estate Mohamed Abdul Latif A al-Mana, chiefoperating officer of Salam Group Abdul Salam Abu Issa and Spar Groupchairman Ehsan al-Kheyami, among others. The area around the mall isexpected to see a greater influx of people in the coming years as anumber of new independent houses are being built in the immediatevicinity of the shopping centre. Besides, a new bridge being builtnear the under-construction Thumama World Cup stadium along Al QudsStreet, off E-Ring Road and going across F-Ring Road, will have one ofits ends near the mall, boosting access.
