Emir issues law on real estate brokerage

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued on Wednesday   Law No. 22 of 2017, on the terms and conditions related to the licensing of real estate brokering.

The law deals with the commitments of real estate brokerages, disciplinary and accountability rules as well as suspension and revocation of the licence. It provides for establishing a real estate brokerage committee at the Ministry of Justice which will look into the complaints submitted by those affected by the department's decisions regarding real estate brokers."The law will reconcile the conditions of the real estate brokers and offices, once the law is applied in compliance to its provisions, within a maximum period of six months from the date of its implementation," Qatar News Agency said.The Emir also issued Law No.23 of 2017 amending certain provisions of Law No. 11 of 1990 establishing Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ratified Cabinet Decision No. 43 of 2017 establishing the Standing Committee for Farms and Farmers' Affairs.Among the instruments of ratification issued by the Emir were: approving a draft memorandum of understanding on legal co-operation between the governments of Qatar and Malaysia, signed in Putrajaya on October 16, 2017; approving a draft memorandum of understanding on co-operation in the field of education, higher education and scientific research between the governments of Qatar and the Somali Republic, signed in Doha on March 18, 2015; approving the ratification of the agreement to encourage and protect mutual investments between the governments of Qatar and the Argentine Republic, signed in Doha on November 6, 2016.The Emir issued instruments of accession to the Convention on International Transport of Goods Under Cover of TIR Carnets 1975 (TIR Convention) and the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments 2004.
