Edward Justice, Abdulrahman Saad and Mychal Ammons all scored 20 or more points as Al Gharafa eased past Al Sadd in the Qatar Basketball League yesterday.
Justice’s 23 was the highest individual score for either side, while Saad (21) and Ammons (20) were not too far behind in the match that saw Al Gharafa notch up a 83-66 win.
Al Gharafa led 22-19 after the first quarter and although Al Sadd put up a fight in the second, there was no stopping Al Gharafa who went on consolidating their advantage, scoring a whopping 26 points in the final 10 minutes.
Justice scored nine times from 13 field goal attempts, including a trio of three-pointers for an overall accuracy of 69.2%, and helped his team record an uninterrupted scoring run of 15 points at one stage during the match.
For Al Sadd, Darrius Oldham top-scored with 21 points, which included three three-pointers, while Julius Coles had 15 and Mozer Hiue 13.
In another match, Qatar Sports Club thrashed Al Ahli 108-76 with Baden Jaxen top-scoring with 30 and Branden Kearney contributing 24.
Qatar Sports Club encountered little resistance as they led 54-34 at the halfway stage before wrapping up the match.
Jaxen scored thrice from the three-point mark and also provided seven assists.
For Al Ahli, Nenad Zivchevikk scored 25, while Ndoye Seydou had 14.
Today Al Shamal face Al Khor at 5.30pm while Al Arabi meet Al Rayyan at 7.30pm.
