Qatar to set up cancer centre in Burkina Faso

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Thursday paid official visit to Burkina Faso during which he held talks with the president and witnessed the signing of agreements to boost ties. He expressed happiness with his first visit to West Africa in general, and the first to Burkina Faso in particular, and stressed Qatar's commitment to enhancing co-operation and friendship with the country. The Emir also noted that Qatar will continue to help the people of the country in all fields, and particularly in the health sector.The two sides discussed bilateral co-operation and the means to enhance them in all fields. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments, and reiterated their commitment to combating terrorism.Following the talks, the Emir and the Burkina Faso president witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Fund for Development and the government of Burkina Faso on establishing a cancer centre in Ouagadougou.The talks and the signing ceremony were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir and a number of ministers and ranking officials of Burkina Faso.The Emir later left Ouagadougou.Earlier, the Emir and his accompanying delegation were received at Ouagadougou airport by Kabore, Prime Minister Paul Kaba Thieba, ministers and senior officials, Qatar's Ambassador to Burkina Faso Mohamed Jaber al-Kuwari and Burkina Faso’s Ambassador to Qatar Adama Compaore, and heads of diplomatic missions.An official reception ceremony was held for the Emir upon his arrival.
Soon after his arrival in Burkina Faso capital Ouagadougou, the Emir and Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kabore held a round of official talks at the presidential palace.The president welcomed and thanked the Emir for accepting the invitation to visit Burkina Faso. Kabore expressed his hope that the visit would contribute to advancing bilateral ties, as well as boost partnership and investment in joint fields.
