Bedaya Centre launches flower competition

The Bedaya Centrefor Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), incollaboration with L’ETO Café, has launched a competition for the bestflower arrangement for local entrepreneurs working in the field offloristry. The competition, which runs until January 12, is open toparticipants who own such a business for at least six months with eithera commercial registration or licence to conduct domestic business (workfrom home), Bedaya Centre has said in a statement.To take part inthe competition, which is hosted by L’ETO Café, participants can uploadphotographs of previously done arrangements on the dedicated website -https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/leto-flowersAll photographs must be submitted by January 12, the organisers have said.Followingthe submission, four candidates will be shortlisted for the finals toattend a workshop on L’ETO Café and the concept behind it to ensure thatthe submitted flower arrangements for the competition are in line withthe café’s concept. Each participant will be granted a week-longopportunity to display his or her arrangements at the L’ETO Café tablewhere guests and customers can vote to select the winning candidate. Thewinning entry will be granted a month’s contract for supplying L’ETOCafé with flower arrangements. Reem al-Sowaidi, general manager ofBedaya Centre, said: “The floristry profession is a common occupationamong local entrepreneurs, especially women. From our side, we do ourbest to support local projects to put them on the right track byproviding them with a unique experience and opportunity to showcasetheir products at one of the leading coffee houses in town - L’ETO Café,where guests and judges can assess their arrangements and select thewinner from the finalists.“By joining hands with L’ETO Café, we wereable to give one local entrepreneur the opportunity to be awarded with aone-month-long contract to supply them with flower arrangements. At thesame time, other participating entrepreneurs will get a motivation toimprove their performance.”Salem al-Athba and Hassan al-Maadid,owners of L’ETO Café in Qatar, said “such an initiative aims to supportlocal entrepreneurs by giving them the opportunity to highlight the bestof all participants and provide them with an overview of the nature oftheir work so that they can compete in the local market”. Al-Athbaand al-Maadid stressed that they were “pleased to be a part of thisinnovative initiative and looked forward to working with Bedaya infuture as well”.Bedaya Centre is a joint initiative of Qatar Development Bank and Silatech.
