IN BRIEF
Qatar’s permanent representative to the UN, HE Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani, has affirmed Qatar’s keenness to inform the UN Security Council member states of what it believes that affects its peace and security and the surroundings in which it lives, and this prompted it to send two letters to the UN on two incidents of airspace violations by the UAE in order to document this information. In a press statement yesterday, Sheikha Alia said that the allegations and letters sent by the UAE to the Security Council that Qatari fighters intercepted their civilian aircraft are weak accusations and not based on accurate information, which Qatar has addressed to the Security Council, but rather an expected reaction to the letters sent by Qatar.
