After a captivating fashion show led by renowned Bollywood actressKareena Kapoor, Shop Qatar’s Bollywood Week wowed the audience onceagain with a musical concert over the weekend. Music fans were treatedto a four-hour performance at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.Participating malls also hosted a variety of Bollywood-themed pop-upshops inviting mall-goers to create and personalise their ownembroidered khussa slippers, bangles and much more.According to Qatar Tourism Authority, the Bollywood Fashion Show at theMondrian Doha was a dazzling showcase of over 100 saree- andlehenga-inspired dresses by six celebrity designers, including ArchanaKochhar and Vikram Phadnis. The show was crowned with a guest appearanceby Kareena Kapoor in a bridal gown. The Bollywood Week (January 14-21)was a celebration of the subcontinent’s vibrant culture and arts as partof Shop Qatar.Shop Qatar also saw the second of the four weekly raffle draws at HyattPlaza, with 15 winners walking away with two BMW cars and QR500,000 incash prizes. More than 78,000 vouchers were entered into the draw,representing more than QR15mn of spending throughout the second week ofShop Qatar. The winners of the QR10,000 cash prizes in the second week’s raffle draware: Abdul Saleem, Noura Alawi al-Yafi, Mahdi Ali Yousif and Carea Baigwhile winners in the QR20,000 and QR30,000 prize category are: RakeshAitavar and Christopher Bag Ao. Mary Anne Adams, Gary Bond, AbdelMoniemIdris Manaa Mojawer and Ezzar Sofiane each won QR40,000. The QR50,000 cash prize went to Gireesh Kamal, and both Asmaa El Shafeyand Mohamed Fakhro won the QR100,000 cash prize. The BMW 520i prize wentto John Calberon while the winner of the grand prize, a BMW 730 Li, wasHessa al-Muhannadi. Visitors and residents still have a chance to winby shopping or dining at any of the festival’s 13 mall partners. The upcoming draws will be held at 8:30pm on January 25 at Tawar Mall.The final draw will take place at the closing ceremony at Doha FestivalCity on February 8 and will feature a special performance by Lebanesesinger, Ramy Ayach. International Week Shop Qatar’s International Week, which started yesterday and will rununtil January 27, is set to bring a special line-up of entertainment andactivities that celebrate the arts and cultures from all over theworld. A display of the latest trends for 2018 is expected at the InternationalFashion Show today at the Mondrian Hotel. More than 100 different lookswill be on show. On January 25, the award-winning American duo, theChainsmokers will be taking to the stage of the DECC to mark the firstconcert of their 2018 tour. Meanwhile, fashion aficionados wanting to have their hand at design areinvited to the three-day certified course with Spanish celebritydesigner, Alejandro Resta, running from January 21 to 23 at theRitz-Carlton Doha. For a traditional shopping experience, festival partner Embrace Doha isleading shopping tours through Souq Waqif, stopping along the way tosample and learn about spices, incense, traditional food, art andclothes. The week’s upcoming tours include a women’s tour on January 25; a men’stour on January 26 and a family tour (free for children under 14) onJanuary 27. Tours run from 5pm to 6.30pm and cost QR150 per person.
