Qatar participated in the World Health Organisation's (WHO) meeting of the executive board, with a delegation chaired by HE Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari.

The main functions of the board are to put into effect the decisions and policies of the Health Assembly, to advise it and generally to facilitate its work.
New WHO Director-General of Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus laid down his vision for the organisation.
Qatar's participation in the event is part of the country's ongoing efforts to support international health efforts.
On the sidelines of the meeting, HE the Minister of Public Health met with the Director-General of WHO and discussed Qatar's potential role in supporting the organisation in the coming year as well as participating on a number of important health issues.
Some of those issues included fighting obesity and diabetes, as well as antibiotic resistance.
Dr al-Kuwari also met with a number of officials at the World Health Organisation who were recently appointed to enhance co-operation with the State of Qatar.
