British envoy interacts with students at AFG College

AFG College with the University of Aberdeen recently hosted British ambassador Ajay Sharma at its campus for the first time.Sheikha Dr Aisha bint Faleh al-Thani, founder and chairperson of Al Faleh Group, Brian Buckley, principal of AFG College, Prof Richard Wells, dean of Transnational Education at the University of Aberdeen, and Dr Karen Foster, provost, received the envoy.The visit included a tour of the campus premises and a meeting with students and staff, followed by a brief presentation on Al Faleh Group and the University of Aberdeen’s collaboration for further strategic development.“I am delighted to visit the campus of AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, which is another example of a British education institution offering UK’s unrivalled higher education expertise to students in Qatar. I am sure this will lead to even greater academic and education co-operation between our two nations,” said ambassador Sharma.“The visit of the British ambassador demonstrates the level of commitment that the embassy attaches to this project and their willingness to further develop our working relationship, making progress in areas of mutual interest. The ambassador expressed his willingness to provide any support that was necessary and was happy to see the students contributing to the cultural, scientific and educational environment of Qatar,” noted Sheikha Aisha.“Having 135 enrolled students has been a great achievement for our first academic year. We have recently opened registration for our September 2018 enrolment and are looking forward to welcoming a new undergraduate cohort, as well as the possibility for those wishing to continue their studies at postgraduate level. Our future campus will include four main schools: Medicine, Engineering, Social Sciences and Business,” added Buckley.
