Al-Khulaifi wins bronze at Greek swimming meet

Qatari swimmer Yousuf al-Khulaifi yesterday won bronze medal in the 50m backstroke at the Greek international swimming championship in Athens. Al-Khulaifi clocked 33.31 seconds to finish in the podium. On Saturday, al-Khulaifi had set a new record in the 50m freestyle when he timed 29.79 seconds.Meanwhile, the two-day Qatar Water Sports Championships will kick off today at the Hamad Aquatic Centre. The Qatar shield swimming championship is the first diving tournament for the 2017/2018 season, and the Qatar Diving Cup will be held in April.Doha to host Global Champions Tour FinaleDoha will host Global Champions Tour finale at Al Shaqab on November 8-10. The Global Champions Tour organisers announced the 2018 calender, which will include 17 rounds. The first round will kick off in Mexico City from March 22-25, before heading to Miami Beach On April 5-7.The grand finale of the regular season will unfold once more at Doha, where Al Shaqab will play host to nail-biting action, the last chance for riders to secure their positions on the Championship ranking, as well as earn a place in the all-important GC Playoffs.
