MES gets first harvest from Kitchen Garden initiative

The Kitchen Garden, a special drive, initiated at the junior section of MES Indian School recently yielded its first fruits to the delight of the staff and the students.Coming as a part of educating the young students about the importance of clean air and about leading a healthy lifestyle by consuming fresh vegetables, the Kitchen Garden is a joint endeavour of MES and ‘Nammude Adukkalathottam,’ a Doha based Indian expatriates-run farming unit, affiliated with the Indian Cultural Centre.The first yield of Kitchen Garden was recently harvested in the presence of Principal Hameeda Kadar and Headmistress Sumayya Nazeer. Broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, capsicum and tomato were among the harvested vegetables.“Kitchen Garden at MES opens up doors for the students to understand the importance of organic farming and eco-system. This unique initiative of the school proved to be successful, as it draws children closer to nature,” said the principal.
