1,700 job openings on offer at QU Career Fair

HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social AffairsDr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi yesterday inaugurated Qatar University(QU)’s 12th Career Fair.Organised by the QU Career Services Centre, the event is being helduntil March 8 and aims to provide high school and university studentswith the opportunity to meet and interact with employers andrepresentatives of companies to seek employment, training andsponsorship opportunities.The career fair was inaugurated by HE Dr al-Nuaimi and QU vice-presidentfor Academic Affairs Dr Omar al-Ansari in the presence of Frenchambassador Eric Chevallier, QU officials, deans, department heads andstudents.The event is open to QU male students until today and female students tomorrow and on March 8.The event features over 75 information booths from government and private organisations.Students can interact with employers and get an insight into the labourmarket’s needs and employers’ expectations as well as the varioustraining services and internships they can follow to develop theirskills, abilities and professional experience, QU has said in astatement.They will also get a chance to explore 1,700 employment opportunities, 400 internships and 60 academic sponsorships.HE Dr al-Nuaimi said, “I would like to thank Qatar University fororganising the career fair. This event contributes to raising studentawareness on the labour market’s needs, whether in the private or publicsector.“At the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and SocialAffairs, we offer the government scholarship programme for high schoolstudents, which provides them with sponsorship and then with employmentopportunities.“Additionally, the ministry’s Department of National Human ResourcesDevelopment serves to provide Qatari nationals with employmentopportunities in the private and public sectors.”QU assistant vice-president for Student Success and Development, Hayaal-Attiyah, added: “The career fair aligns with QU’s strategic goals topromote the spirit of entrepreneurship among students and to equip themwith the necessary entrepreneurial skills, which will contribute todriving economic development and diversification in Qatar.“In this regard, the QU Career Services Centre gathered a number ofemerging companies and business incubators to raise the studentawareness about entrepreneurship and its impact on the country’ssustainable development.”
