General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) launched the sixth
version of ‘Conserving Building Competition’ as one of the initiatives
of National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency ‘Tarsheed’.
The competition is launched under the theme Inspiring Eco-Urban.
All
applications shall be submitted through Tarsheed page on Kahramaa
website, after reviewing the terms and conditions, and filling in the
registration form.
It is open for all buildings at government,
residential, commercial, industrial, hospitality, and sport sectors,
according to a statement by Kahramaa.
Moreover, the competition is
meant to create awareness about building conservation concept in all
sectors of society, create public awareness on the benefits of building
conservation practices (energy, water), mobilise people and encourage
them to embrace energy conservation strategies, and motivate consumers
to adopt building conservation practices in the local construction
market, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Kahramaa invites eligible owners to apply for the competition.
Buildings
shall be evaluated in several phases by a panel of experts where
buildings shall be evaluated based on specific criteria developed by a
team of experts, as follows: HVAC system, lighting, plumbing fixtures,
landscape, operation and maintenance practices, building energy
management, building automation, sustainability measures, specific
energy/water consumption, building insulation.
Winners will be
announced and honoured at Tarsheed 6th Annual Celebration to be held in
April. It is worth mentioning that ‘Conserving Buildings’ are buildings
that reduce electricity and water consumption, carbon emissions, and
provide better living for residents in the State of Qatar.
