Dimdex : 11 warships docked at Hamad Port
At least 11 warships from navies of different countries are docked at Hamad Port as part of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (Dimdex) starting at the Qatar National Convention Centre Monday.
The event is held under the patronage of HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah.Ships from the UK, USA, India, Italy, Oman, Pakistan and Bangladesh have arrived at the port, which is one of the largest in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region these days.US Navy is participating with three warships, namely Destroyer USS Sampson, (DDG-102), which is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and two Navy special mission patrol vessels MK VI which are patrol boats in service.
Italy's Cargo Margottini and Bangladesh Navy's BNS Bangabandhu, which is a guided missile frigate, Oman's Fast Attack craft (patrol vessel) Kassab, Fast Attack missile craft from Pakistan, PNS Himmat and Maritime Patrol Vessel PMSS Basol are among the other ships.
