Qatar, Morocco to forge strategic partnership

Qatar and Morocco have expressed a strong will to strengthen bilateral co-operation in order to forge a strategic partnership during the 7th meeting of the Qatari-Moroccan Joint Supreme Committee held in Rabat.

The partnership is aimed at meeting the aspirations of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and King Mohamed VI as well as the peoples of the two brotherly countries, HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has said.

In a speech, he expressed thanks to the Kingdom of Morocco for the warm welcome and the positive atmosphere that prevailed during his visit and the meetings.

The prime minister said both sides held several meetings and signed a number of agreements, including the establishment of a joint commercial committee and the opening of a shipping line between Moroccan ports and Hamad Port, stressing that this will contribute to trade exchange between the two countries.

He said the businessmen council between the two countries will be activated which will also contribute to boosting the volume of investments between Qatar and Morocco. The next meeting of the Qatari-Moroccan Joint Supreme Committee will be held in Qatar.

For his part, Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Eddine el-Othmani lauded the solid and established foundations that characterise Qatari-Moroccan relations and his satisfaction with the qualitative development of the course of these relations. He confirmed the existence of a strong shared will to upgrade these relations.

El-Othmani said the 7th meeting of the Qatari-Moroccan Joint Supreme Committee was an opportunity to review and evaluate the outcome of bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially trade, finance, investment and culture. He pointed out that economic, investment and trade cooperation between the two countries is the engine that drives bilateral co-operation. Both the countries have great potential and the will to achieve the desired goals, within a global economy that is characterised by openness, he said.

The Moroccan prime minister urged the businessmen of the two countries to double their efforts to develop a genuine strategic economic partnership through optimal utilisation of the available resources.
