Two leading US defence entities have refuted the reports that the Americans are planning to leave the Al Udeid Airbase in Qatar.
The unfounded story also said the US is leaving the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey.
The US Central Command (Centcom) on Sunday denied reports it was leaving the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar, saying that such reports are false and without merit.
"The US is not leaving Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, nor is the US leaving Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar. These reports are false and without merit," Centcom posted on its official Twitter page.
Further rebutting the fake news, US Air Force Central Command said: "There is zero credibility to news reports asserting the US is leaving Incirlik and Al Udeid air bases in Turkey and Qatar. These unhelpful reports feed mistrust and division among regional partners at a time when we need to work together to address shared security concerns."
