The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s Public Gardens Department yesterday launched the national awareness initiative (Tadweer) for recycling at Al Khor Park.
The initiative is conducted under the patronage of HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment in co-operation with Ras Laffan Power Company, and other private companies as part of their corporate social responsibility.
Two machines will be provided to recycle food waste, tree leaves and other biodegradable materials into bio-fertilisers and other animal fodder products to enhance the greenery of the park and maintain environmental equilibrium. The park visitors will have access to the machines.
Recycling containers are to be placed across the park, in addition to a number of monitors that display awareness messages and information.
The project would go through an assessment period to study its progress and consider future expansions.
