Nepali community recently enjoyed a new movie premiered on the screen of Global Cinema Hall, Doha. The movie, Lily Bily, was released in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, two weeks ago. The film has already been doing extraordinary business on the national box office.
Directed by Milan Chams, Lily Bily features actors Pradeep Khadka, Jassita Gurung and Priyanka Karki. Lily Bily was shot in Nepal, UK and Turkey.
Giving an after-screening response, Kalyan Ghimire, a Nepali film industry producer and director, said, “From now on, the Nepali movies will be screened every Friday in Doha.”
Lily Bily portrays the life story of a boy from a rural hinterland of Nepal, who goes to Europe and succeeds in becoming a thriving NRN (Non-Resident Nepali). The romantic comedy kicks off with NRN Avash, played by Pradeep Khadka, meeting with Shruti, played by Jasita Gurung, in a cinema hall of Scotland. The dance sequences of the movie were shot in Edinburg and Istanbul.
Jasita Gurung has made a successful debut in the movie. However, her weepy character gives a sense of flat performance throughout the movie. Priyanka Karki, a popular actress, plays an unforgettable cameo in the movie.
The shooting in foreign cities, a rare ingredient for Nepali feature films, has made Lily Bily a beautiful package. Though it carries a clichéd and run-of-the-mill storyline, the movie has successfully blended the picturesque cinematography with choreography.
After watching theshow, the audiences gave positive comments about the movie. Chirinjivi Timsina appreciated how the love story was presented. Bishnu Karki was impressed by the beautiful sceneries. Further, the comic scenes and dialogues in the movie made the audience laugh aloud.
