Rolacc opens registration for course on rule of law

The Rule of Law and Anti-corruption Centre (Rolacc) announced yesterday the start of the e-registration for master degree on the rule of law and fighting corruption at the University of Sussex, UK.Registration could be made through the official website at www.sussex.ac.uk/study/masters/apply and it is open until June, while the academic study for the programme starts in September and lasts for two years as part-time at the Rolacc in Doha.The Rolacc also sponsors the study programme by the University of Sussex. It includes around 40 students from different academic backgrounds as it is not mandatory for applicants to have a degree in law. The programme was designed by a senior academician at the University of Sussex according to the standards of the university. A number of professors and academician at the UK university teaches the programme to students in Qatar. Ghada Darwish, programme co-ordination expert at the Rolacc, pointed out that this programme draws on the expertise of University of Sussex in the fields of law, politics, and sociology. In particular, the programme is based on the university’s core expertise in the anti-corruption studies. Darwish described the programme as a new trend at the specialised programmes designed for young people, as corruption has become a growing worldwide phenomenon and have highly destructive and negative consequences on the economy and the safety of the civil society.Salem al-Harami, a student enrolled in the second and final year of the programme, said this programme is considered the first of its kind in the GCC countries and the Middle East and the University of Sussex is considered one of the most powerful 20 universities in UK and also one of the pioneers in the field. He stressed that the concept of anti-corruption is very broad and the programme helps to enhance knowledge about the best practices to limit the harmful consequences of corruption and its spread. This is the third edition of the master degree programme, which helps to graduate highly qualified professionals in the field.
