Forthe eighth consecutive year, Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sportsmedicine hospital, provided its world-class medical support tointernational and local athletes who took part in the 2018 IAAF DohaDiamond League held on Friday.Aspetar’s ongoing collaboration with the Qatar Athletics Federation(QAF) in providing medical coverage to the Doha Diamond League isanother example of Aspetar’s commitment to helping athletes achievetheir full potential during sports events hosted in Qatar.For this year’s Doha Diamond League, Aspetar set up on-site facilitiesat the Qatar Sports Club offering services to all participatingathletes. A team of 37 physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and massagetherapists provided immediate medical care throughout the event and atthe participants’ residences.Events like the Diamond League provide Aspetar experts with invaluableopportunities to hone their procedures in preparation for the 2019 WorldChampionships, scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 6at Khalifa International Stadium, and the 48th FIG Artistic GymnasticsWorld Championships, scheduled to take place from October 25 to November3, 2018. At both of these events, Aspetar will be the official medicalprovider.By supporting such events, Aspetar is cementing its leading role in thetreatment and prevention of injury to local, regional and internationalathletes across all sports. Aspetar’s experts have a wealth ofexperience in supporting athletes participating in major tournaments inQatar, including the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship in 2015, the2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships, and the 2016 UCI Road WorldChampionships, and abroad.Aspetar has become the preferred sports medicine destination for anumber of sports stars across all disciplines, including athletics starssuch as South African Olympian Wayde van Niekerk, Croatian discusthrower Sandra Perkovic, Tunisian long and middle distance runner HabibaGhribi; Olympic track and field champion Taoufik Makhloufi, Frenchmiddle-distance runner Mahiedine Mekhissi and US Olympians ChristianTaylor, LaShawn Merritt, Justin Gatlin and Alison Felix.
