‘Desert Rose’ photography exhibition opens at Katara

The exhibition showcases 34 photographs by Bentley of unique landscapes in Qatar.
Katara-the Cultural Village Foundation recently inaugurated the art exhibition, ‘Desert Rose’, by British photographer Richard Bentley in Building 19. The opening ceremony was attended by Katara assistant general manager Ahmed al-Sayyed, Australian ambassador Axel Wabenhorst and other guests.The exhibition showcases 34 photographs of unique landscapes in Qatar. Bentley, who specialises in time-lapse photography, architectural photography, conceptual digital art and macro photography, said he used 8K resolution to produce the photographs. “I have snapped thousands of photos around Qatar, and I found many attractive scenes for stunning images,” Bentley said.Bentley, who is with Al Jazeera Media Network, said he is a self-taught photographer and has been taking photographs for the past eight years. The exhibition is a first for Bentley, who has worked in 45 countries. “Katara has given me this valuable chance to present my work; seeing these photos printed on canvas has brought them to life,” Bentley said, who noted that his favourite photograph at the exhibition is ‘Water Lily’, which was taken at the Museum of Islamic Art.Al-Sayyed said, “The exhibition displays a variety of unique art works that reflect the beauty of Doha city. Katara seeks to attract more enthusiasts in this field to enrich the cultural scene in Qatar.”
