The Ministry of Economy and Commerce said on Thursday that it has closed a company specialising in the sale of women's clothing and accessories in the Muaither region for a month, after it was proved the company sold counterfeit products.
The ministry said it issued the decision to close the company, after it was found to be operating in violation of one of the articles of the Consumer Protection Law.The article states that the supplier shall, upon presentation of any item for sale, be bound to indicate on its cover or packaging, clearly the type of the item, its nature, its components, and all data related to it.The supplier is also forbidden to describe, advertise or display the items in a manner that contains false or deceptive statements. This procedure comes within the framework of the intensive inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce to monitor the markets and commercial activities in the country with the aim of detecting infringements and counterfeit goods that do not conform to the standard specifications, as well as to also ensure that prices are not manipulated in shops.
