An array of summer camps in Doha is offering children a variety of sports and games aimed at promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, it is learnt.

Such initiatives encourage young residents to exercise and stay fit in a safe and suitable environment.

Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) is hosting its first-ever summer camp for children aged between six and 14 years.

In a recent press statement, AZF said participants can take part in a variety of sports activities, such as taekwondo, swimming, football, aerobics and gymnastics, and a number of entertaining games and challenges.

The summer camp, which started on July 8 and runs until August 15, runs for four days a week from Sunday to Wednesday, between 8am and 2pm. The sessions take place across the Aspire Dome, Ladies Sports Hall and Aspire Park Cinema.

Registration fee is QR1,700, according to the AZF website.

AZF’s recently launched 'Splash and Dash' programme is also gaining popularity, giving sports enthusiasts in Qatar an opportunity to use Aspire Dome’s swimming pool and indoor athletics track from 7pm to 9pm on Mondays and Wednesdays until the end of August.

This new programme forms part of AZF’s latest example of indoor fitness initiatives, offering state-of-the-art facilities for year-round and community-focused sports activities.

Like AZF, Doha College is hosting multi-sports camps and clinics until August 23 from 8am to 1pm on its Al Waab campus, organised by Evolution Sports Qatar.

Pegged at QR750 per week, these camps offer soccer, dodgeball, dance, basketball, arts and crafts, tennis and martial arts, among others.

Similar sports activities continue to attract many young children and family members at Qatar Foundation’s summer camp in Education City.

The camp, which started on June 25 and concludes on August 30, features a wide range of activities (from 8am to 5pm) for both adults and children, including experimental art, movie treats, baking, swimming and football, among others. Fees range between QR600 and QR2,300.

At Minipolis Qatar, children take part in a variety of fun learning activities such as aerobics, baking, watching cinema and many more at a summer camp.

The ‘edutainment’ initiative gives participants the opportunity to discover 'the world of Mad Science' while sharing their time with others. Held from 9am to 5pm, the programme will conclude on August 31.

BK Sports has also organised a summer camp at English Modern School Doha, offering a wide variety of activities such as swimming, football, gymnastics, roller skating, etc.

Similar summer camps and indoor activities such as arts and crafts, music, and science experiments for children are taking place in various locations in Doha such as Wisdom Education Centre, Music & Arts Atelier, Compass School (Madinat Khalifa).
