A 25-year-old woman was killed by a wild tiger on Monday near Nepal's largest national park, local police said.
The woman and two others were collecting fodder for their livestock in a forest near Chitwan National Park on Monday morning when they came under attack, said Shiva Sharma Acharya, a police officer in Chitwan district.
"The animal dragged her 100 metres away. Rangers had to tranquillise the tiger to separate it from the victim's body," he told dpa.
Although tiger attacks are rare in Nepal, human-wild animal conflicts are common, raising concerns about the safety of people living near wildlife reserves.
Nepal is home to 198 endangered wild tigers that live in protected areas in the country's southern plains along the border with India.
Nepal wrapped up a census of the endangered animal early this year, but the results have not been released.
