Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah have become favourite destinations for Qatar's residents during this Eid break, with the visitors enjoying the unique family-friendly activities and entertainment shows staged daily in the huge air-conditioned tents.
“We always prefer to spend both the Eid holidays, at Qatar’s two souqs because we find it more relaxing and the ambience is really unique,” Filipino expatriate Benzon D told Gulf Times.

The father of two said his wife and children also like to visit these places not only for the shows but also to savour the diverse range of food offerings, especially Middle Eastern and Italian cuisines.
This year, Souq Waqif is featuring jugglers, drummers and musicians, and illusionists, among others, dressed in colourful attire, enthralling the audience with their performances.

Meanwhile, Souq Al Wakrah organised an array of fun-filled activities and games for holiday-goers, besides the entertainment and roaming shows.
While the venue is home to stilt walkers, clowns and other performers during the festivals, it also organises various cultural performances.
According to the organisers, Souq Al Wakrah is also hosting a number of art workshops such as painting and drawing for children apart from outdoor activities.
Sameer K, an Indian expatriate, said his family and friends are enjoying the live shows by international performers at Souq Al Wakrah.
“After watching the Ben 10 Live Show at Doha Festival City, we thought of spending the rest of the night at Souq Al Wakrah, and good thing we did. These shows are really amazing and free of charge,” he added.
Sameer said he also took his family to Katara – the Cultural Village to witness the spectacular fireworks display in the evening during the first day of Eid al-Adha.
It is learnt that the two souqs have become a haven for many bloggers/vloggers and photographers, as well as enthusiasts, particularly during these kinds of festivities.
“If I want to get some excellent subjects and pictures or videos for my blog, I visit these souqs during Eid,” said Jude, an aspiring photographer and blogger.
“It is also great to be there during their spring festivals.”
He, along with his colleagues, had the opportunity to shoot some of the fireworks displays at Souq Al Wakrah in previous events.
