A delegation from the International Court of Qatar (QICDRC), headed by its president Lord Phillips and chief executive Faisal bin Rashid al-Sahouti, participated in the recently held meeting of the International Forum of Commercial Courts at the Federal Court Building in New York City, US.

On the sidelines of the conference, al-Sahouti met Judge Loretta Prisca, president of the Federal Court of New York, where they discussed ways to enhance co-operation between the two, especially in the areas of exchanging judicial experience. He also met with judges of the Supreme Court of the New York where judicial issues of mutual concern were discussed.

The judicial forum is a unique international event for commercial courts where many heads of judicial councils from 35 different countries participate in order to strengthen co-operation between commercial courts, to uphold the international commitment to the rule of law, activate the role of judicial institutions and to promote judicial work in accordance with the best international standards.

The theme of this year's conference focused on issues related to the establishment of an international protocol for the implementation of international commercial court rulings, case management and court technology, as well as the issue of third-party financing, and some issues related to arbitration. The trial of the Qatar International Court was also introduced by applying the electronic system for case management – eCourt -- which contributed to the service of litigants by granting them the opportunity to register the newspapers and documents of the lawsuit electronically.
