Nepal president visits Qatar centres of excellence

Qatar Foundation (QF) on Wednesday welcomed the Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari, to Education City. QF's community development president Machaille al-Naimi accompanied the delegation to the open-air viewing platform on the eighth floor of QF Headquarters, and highlighted the various education, science and research, and community development entities of Education City. Concluding the tour, al-Naimi presented a gift to President Bhandari, who then signed QF’s Visitors Book to commemorate her visit.

The Nepal president was also given a tour of the Qatar National Library (QNL) Wednesday by its executive director, Dr Sohair Wastawy, highlighting the wealth of resources and facilities. QNL has welcomed more than 370,000 visitors, and registered more than 100,000 members, since opening to the public in November 2017. Over the course of the past year, QNL has developed numerous local and international collaborations to promote learning and research.
A delegation headed by President Bhandari also visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) on Wednesday as part of their official visit. 
The delegation toured MIA and viewed its collection of masterpieces which include books, manuscripts and coins made of silver, copper and bronze, as well as artefacts and precious stones representing Islamic art dating back to the 14th century. 
With its vision to be recognised as a centre of knowledge, dialogue and inspiration, MIA has become a landmark attraction in the country, highlighting Qatar Museum’s commitment to turn Qatar into a thriving arts and culture hub.
Designed by renowned architect I M Pei, the museum is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary this November by hosting “Syria Matters”, a major exhibition documenting the extraordinary cultural heritage of Syria and its key role in the artistic and intellectual history of the world.
