Pro-democracy activists participate in a sit-down protest in the capital Colombo yesterday, to demand the restoration of government following the sacking of prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The island nation has been politically paralysed since October 26 when President Maithripala Sirisena controversially sacked prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and replaced him with former rival Mahinda Rajapakse.
