Qatar’s double trap team won the gold medal as Qatar finished on top in the 14th Arab Shooting Championship which concluded yesterday.Qatar, who dominated from day one of the eight-day championships, bagged 47 medals, including 18 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze.Second-placed Oman bagged 13 gold, 18 silver and 13 bronze while Kuwait, clinched the third place with 13 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze. The Omani delegation was crowned as the best fans for their support to the Gulf and Arab teams participating in the tournament.On the last day, Qatar’s Asian Games bronze medal winner Hamad al-Marri came second in the individual double trap event with a total score of 136. Kuwait’s Ahmad al-Afasi won the gold with a score of 138, while Qatar’s Masoud Hamad al-Athba came third with 135.The 43-year-old al-Marri and al-Athba were also members of the Qatar team which won the gold medal. They beat Kuwait in the final. Abdulbaset Mohsin was also the members of the victorious team. Oman team finished third.In the youth section, Qatar’s Shahd al-Darwish and Nasser Khalid al-Naemi also combined to win 10m air rifle mixed silver medal. In the junior section, Qatar 1 comprised of Al Maha Mishal al-Ali and Abdulaziz Thamer al-Turki won the 10m air rifle mixed team gold.
