German International School Doha celebrated its 10th anniversary at a special function Saturday at the school premises.
Rawda al-Zaidan, director of Private Schools Affairs, Ministry of Education and Higher Education was present on the occasion along with Hans-Udo Muzel ambassador of Germany, Willy Kempel, ambassador of Austria and Edgar Dörig ambassador of Switzerland as well as several other distinguished guests.A cake was cut by the ambassadors and the guests to mark the occasion.
German International School Doha has more than 310 students and over 30 teachers. The school has grown steadily over the years catering quality education to not only German expatriate students but also to wider community members.
“The German International School Doha has come a long way with the great support of Qatar. Culture and education bring people together and Qatar has taken a great initiative in this regard. All over the world around 80,000 students are attending German schools and the German School Doha is one of the most important one among them. It is one of the arms of Germany to reach out to the international community with regard to culture,” the German ambassador Muzel said.
"The 10th anniversary of the German International School Doha is one of the most prominent examples of the very successful partnership in the field of education between Germany and Qatar, We are very grateful for the extraordinary cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar, whose continued generous support makes it possible to bring German quality education to Qatar," continued the envoy.
“I am very proud that the German International School Doha has just been awarded the quality seal “Excellent German Overseas School” by the German government for providing an outstanding German school education from Kindergarten to Grade 12,” he added.
Principal of the school, Dirk Dillschneider said, “10 years of German International School Doha are 10 years of a model of success. The school has reached not only full expansion but also the capacity of 314 pupils from 28 different nationalities. In every year of its existence, all students have successfully graduated from the school. Last school year, the first graduation year of the International Diploma Programme of the school, all students attained their certificate.”
The German international school is a language-oriented educational institution with German qualities, values, and traditions which lead the students to a German higher education entrance qualification and beyond to an international university entrance qualification. The school offers German, English, Arabic and French languages in addition to other subjects.
