President of Ecuador Lenin Boltaire Moreno Garces is arriving in Qatar Thursday on a three-day visit, ambassador Ivonne A-Baki said in Doha Wednesday.
"President Garces' visit is in response to an invitation from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani who visited the Ecuadorian capital Quito two months ago as part of his four nation official tour of South America," she explained.
Acknowledging the continuous support extended by Qatar to her country at different levels, A-Baki said the leaderships of Ecuador and Qatar have enormous mutual respect and understanding for several years now and she has been able to build remarkably good relations ever since she took over as ambassador a year ago.
The envoy said the Ecuadorian president would be accompanied by an eight-member delegation, including the Chief of Staff of his Office and Ministers of Foreign Affairs, and Trade and Investment.

The delegation is expected to sign two major MoUs with Qatar to strengthening relations in culture and also for the management of seaports in both Qatar and Ecuador.
The ambassador also informed that Qatar Airways has proposed to increase the frequency of cargo flights between Quito and Doha from twice a week to daily. Approximately half a million roses are carried to Qatar from Ecuador a week, it is learnt.
While welcoming the Qatar Airways proposal for increasing the frequency of cargo flights, A-Baki reiterated her demand for introducing direct air connectivity between Doha and Quito. "Such a flight would help ferry passengers from the Latin American continent to the Middle East more effectively," she said while observing that it is easier as Ecuador is centrally and strategically located. Such a service would facilitate convenient travel for passengers from at least three other South American countries, she felt.
The ambassador said Ecuador President Moreno who is expected to address the Doha Forum on Saturday, will visit the Qatar Foundation and Shafallah Centre.
Moreno, who is a wheelchair bound paraplegic, has earned a lot of respect across the world for his commitment to help people with disabilities, has also ensured job reservation for them in both private and government sectors.
Moreno who is reaching Doha after an official visit of China, had to reschedule his visit here owing to his compelling official duties back home, said the ambassador. Earlier the Ecuador President was supposed to attend the Qatar National Day celebrations on December 18.
The 65-year-old Moreno, who became President in May 2017 was nominated for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize for his advocacy for people with disabilities.
