Expatriate communities celebrate Qatar National Day

Expatriate communities residing in different parts of Doha, including Barwa Al Baraha Industrial area, Asian Town, Labour City, Al Khor and Shahaniya recently celebrated Qatar National Day. The celebrations were organised by Minister of Interior (MoI) Public Relations Department.The members of expatriate communities, including Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh presented cultural performances, including thematic parade and Qatar national song. The performances highlighted the importance of opportunities given by Qatar to the expatriate communities living in Doha. The members of Indian community presented a free style dance sequences on Hindi, Malayalam, Punjabi and Tamil songs, which was followed by a flash mob for the audience. Nepali expatriates also performed at the event. They presented dance performances, including folk, contemporary and modern dance forms. Resham Basnet and Birendra Sunar, Nepali singers, also performed at the event. The artistes from Nepalese Cultural Centre, including Yogen Magar, Saran Magar, Rabin Magar, Samita Magar, Salina Tamang and Chadani Rai also performed at the event along with Non Resident Tamang Society artistes, including Asmita Tamang, Kalpana Tamang, Sirchen Tamang and Sarmila Tamang and led by Sirchen Tamang. Other artistes, including Kirat Yakthung Chumlung Dipendra Rai, Bijyan Rai, Kalpana Kumari Rai, Gyanu Rai, Ekmaya Rai, Shyam Kumar Rai, Hutaraj Rai, Saran Kumar Rai and Prativa Rai performed Sakela dance. The dancers from Tamu Society that performed at the event, including Bishnu Gurung, Pratisya Gurung, Silla Gurung, Bishanu Gurung, Lil Bahadur Gurung and Sangita Gurung. The performance by Sri Lankan artistes highlighted the importance of water for the crop harvest.
