The French government has awarded HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah the National Order of the Legion of Honour of Commander Rank, which is the highest decoration in France.
The ceremony honouring the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence was held at the headquarters of the French Ministry of Defence.
French Minister of Armed Forces Florence Barley said al-Attiyah was being honoured for his efforts. 
After the ceremony, al-Attiyah and Barley held talks during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and means of strengthening them in the defence and military fields.
Qatar's ambassador to France Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani, Qatar's Military Attache in France Brig Gen Mohamed Mubarak al-Shahwani and a number of members of the Qatari armed forces attended the ceremony.
